Prints are chic, chic, chic!!

Here's my ode to pattern with this fun Instashoot. I pulled a Juliana Jabour Miro-inspired print dress and Trina Turk necklace from my closet especially for a trip to San Francisco. Since I nearly always wear black, I thought I should record the occasion! I was inspired to break out this print number to cover events at the Academy of Art University for Apparel News. It was the perfect daytime city chic look for a morning panel discussion and for lunching at Neiman Marcus. How will you wear will prints this Spring?

Saint Laurent's Stripe Heel is Very Very CHIC

 

 

 

A girl needs her shoes and in my case, I'm coveting Saint Laurent. I was parouzing the shoe department at Nordstrom at The Grove yesterday and spotted this insane striped ankle strap heel. There's been debates about the look of YSL since Hedi Slimane entered as Creative Director, but to me, this heel is everthing I want a Saint Laurent heel to be. It's the perfect wardrobe update with stripes trending for Spring and the large buckle on the ankle strap adds just the right amount of edge. It's of the moment, yet classic, seriously sexy and very, very chic.

The latest W Magazine is the perfect answer. This month the issue has three collectible high impact covers shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott. I must confess, I have a denim fetish.

And for Spring, denim couldn't be more chic. I was reminded of how amazing clean blue denim is this season when I stopped by Louis Verdad's studio to pull samples for a recent shoot. Case in point, the chic purse, clutch and stiletto heels pictured above. Designers from Miu Miu to Balmain churned out denim collections that are seriously to die for this season. I'm in love with Miu Miu's ladylike vintage chic looks, Balmain's '80s power suits and Verdad's chic accessories and tailored numbers. Here are a few of my favorite looks from the runway.

Are you a fan of "The Face?" If you're like me, most likely you are obsessed with the Oxygen network's new reality show. Supermodels Coco Rocha, Naomi Campbell and Karolina Kurkova face off as they mentor models competing for a grand prize makeup contract. The guest stars are top notch and the competition is fierce!! Last weekend (yes, on Oscar Sunday) I styled Team Coco per the request of photographer Ben Cope. We shot Coco and her team and as you can see had a lot fun along the way. The look is classic denim and tees by my friends at Alternative Apparel, THVM jeans and Steve Madden. Coco had the uber cool sweatshirts pictured above made by Cote-Armour and wore her own Official Versace pumps. It couldn't be more chic! This is how I like to start my morning.

While scrolling through Instagram I caught a glimpse of the Alexander McQueen presetation in Paris. Here are a few of the shots snapped by the Alexander McQueen team from behind-the-scenes. If you can't be in Paris, what better way to get a glimpse of the collection? I love seeing all the details from the exquisite pearl-encrusted headpieces to high neck collars, divine cropped gloves and Elizabethan style shoes -it's a visual feast for the eyes! And, of course, the Parisian venue with its beautiful ceiling and gold trim is the perfect backdrop for the collection.

Latest Obsession: Dion Lee ARC COAT

Dion Lee is known for his stunning architectural designs. I am OBSESSED with the "Arc Coat," which he created for the International Woolmark Competition. Beautiful draping, intricately interwoven details and the hat? This piece is simply a stunning creation by the Australian designer. Lee won the Woolmark Prize in Sydney last summer and was selected to represent his home country in the International Woolmark Competition at London Fashion Week. My first introduction to Dion Lee was at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week a few years ago where he presented a collection at the Sydney Opera House. With the Sydney Harbor in the background and the stunning architecture of the Opera House to compliment his collection, it was a show to be remembered. From this design you can see why Lee is a designer to watch. What were the results of the competition? While Lee's collection made an incredible statement, Belgian designer Christian Wijnants scooped up the top prize against talents including Sophie Theallet (USA), Ban Xiao Xue (China), Pankaj & Nidhi (India) and Takeshi Kitazawa & Emiko Sato (Japan). Wijnants won over $100,000 and the opportunity to have the brand carried in top department stores around the world. An obessed fashion editor wants to know, where can I get the "Arc Coat?"

London Fashion Week is in full swing. I scanned the web this morning for a few of my favorite looks from today's shows. I'm "Crushin'' for Burberry's new heart motif "It Bags," glam camouflage at Christopher Kane and modern-retro chic at Erdem. Keep those stomachs toned!! And I must admit I'm suffering from "print fatigue." But I am intrigued by this uber glam Peter Pilotto fur peplum dress. Divine!

Getting the Beauty Treatment

 

I love it when I find an amazing pic in my photo archives.

Today I stumbled across this shot of the oh, so talented Sean James blowing out my hair during an event at Fred Segal Salon. Somehow it fell in all the right waves just for this shot. Love having my hair 'did' by a very dear friend and collaborator - and am so happy to have the moment captured on film.
