"Escape to beyond in sizzling hot animal prints,"
- N. Jayne Seward Animal prints are hot, hot, hot!! Here is the latest spread I styled for Apparel News Waterwear featuring the best animal prints for Cruise 2011. Our team traveled to Palm Springs to create this exotic shoot in the dunes of the high desert. We braved the sun, wind and the sand - all for the sake of fashion. The result? A stunningly beautiful editorial that pushes the edge on swimwear style. The story highlights key looks at Miami Swim Week which kicks off tonight in South Beach. I'll be covering for Apparel News with runway reports, trends and video coverage throughout the week. Be sure to check the Apparel News site for highlights from the week!

Forecasting the next season's trends is key to staying ahead of the fashion curve. Here are four trends for Cruise 2011 featured in my trend story out today in Apparel News. For the upcoming season, swimwear's street-inspired mix is sure to make a splash poolside. Think denim, colorful animal prints, feminine florals and military fatigues. Some of the hottest swimwear designers from around the world are featured including C & M Swim by Camilla and Marc, Lenny, True Religion, Anna Kosturova, We Are Handsome, Cia.Maritima, Tavik, Kymare and So de Mel Swim by Sonia De Mello. And stay tuned - more swim coverage on the way. I'll be in Miami next week for Swim Show2011, Salon-Allure and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim all set to hit South Beach from July 14 to 20.

If you are looking for some unique items to freshen up your wardrobe - look no further. Alicia Lawhon is holding a sample sale this weekend for her new line Reclaimed in L.A. The designer/stylist launched the collection last year giving a high fashion spin to sustainable fashion. The goal? To beautify what others are not using. Lawhon infuses her unique design aesthetic into unwanted and discarded items by decorating, reworking and recombining them to make them useful and desirable. The result? Repurposed clothing and jewelry made from items such as discarded men's suits, Missoni sweaters, fringe capes, vintage belt buckles and sequin dresses. The images above feature Lawhon's navy sweater decorated with gold jewelry and an ethnic fringe cape which I featured in California Apparel News' Waterwear last summer. To pick up a few pieces for yourself, be sure to stop by the sample sale this Sunday in Silver Lake, Calif.
Reclaimed in L.A.
When: Sunday, July 11, 11 am - 4 pm
Where: 2700 Ivan Hill Terrace, Los Angeles, CA 90039
Leave it to John Galliano to turn out a spectacular couture collection for Christian Dior. Inspired by the glorious beauty of flowers, the collection was packed with intense colors, beautifully cut jackets and over-the-top gowns. Reinventing a classic theme in such a powerful way is exactly what one expects from the couture. There was less frivolity on the runway this season and it was refreshing to see Galliano's vision executed in such a masterful way - right down to the plastic head decorations.
