LATEST OBSESSIONS: SOME/THINGS Chapter005 & Rick Owens' New Book

In my pursuit of all things uber cool and French this week, I'm coveting the new issue of SOME/THINGS MAGAZINE and the soon-to-be-released Rick Owens book. A first look at the mag just popped up on the SOME/THINGS website and it is beautiful....! SOME/THINGS Chapter005/She Has No Strings Apollo comes in an embossed graphite-color box and is wrapped in one of five different kinds of Rick Owens cashmere scented with his soon-to-be-released perfume  - Mmmmmm lovely!! Need I say more?!!!!  A limited-edtiion DVD and a first-ever interview with Paul Harnden is also included. And equally as beautiful, the site posted a few preview images of Rick Owens new book published by Rizzoli. The book features photos by SOME/THINGS Creative Director Monika Bielskyte and was shot inside the Rick Owens Atelier and office and the Olmar & Mirta Factory for SOME/THINGS Chapter004/The Wings of a Locust.

I'm planning my wardrobe for Paris and I decided what better inspiration than to review the street chic from the Fall 2011 shows?!! Of course to be fashion forward, the look must be updated with the latest trends. But nothing can capture that certain je ne sais quoi quite like the Parisian streets. From Dior at the Musee Rodin to Chanel at the Grand Palais and Valentino and Elie Saab in the Tuileries, I captured some of fashion week's chicest ladies - and yes, a few very stylish men!! The faces, the names - Anna Dello Russo, Kate Lanphear, Giovanna Battaglia, Martha Streck, Kanye West, Fan Bing Bing, Abbey Lee Kershaw - they're all here. PREEN Spring 2011

How does one collection sum up a season? In one word.  Preeeeeeeen!!!  

Feminine, colorful and oh, so modern Preen Spring 2011 combines all of the right elements. The result? It's very, very chic. As I've been watching the Spring collections walk the runway in New York, I've really been wondering what will I wear next season? We've seen preppy, crisp white palettes, the '60s and more than enough floral prints. Preen puts it all together in all the right ways. Pastel palette, lace fabrics, floral prints and clean silhouttes that are ever-so-lady-like and yet effortlessly cool. Missoni For Target Launches Today To Overwhelming Demand....

 

 

It's one of the most anticipated launches at Target as of late...

So anticipated in fact that shoppers seeking the highly coveted merch are having problems logging on to Target.com to get the goods. According to US Magazine it must be the overwhelming demand from eager Missoni fans!! It's no surprise since the Missoni for Target completely sold out at its New York City pop-up store in less than two days. The 400-piece collection includes apparel, accessories, and housewares ....Will I be jetting down to Target today. Most definitely!

From Christian Louboutin and Philip Lim on Robertson Blvd. to Kill City and Fred Segal on Melrose, I braved the crowds to cover Fashion's Night Out for Apparel News. For the third year in a row, the style set around the globe has joined forces on one night to celebrate fashion. The shopping extravaganza organized by Vogue and the Council of Fashion Designers of America was originally created to help stimulate the economy - and it’s become a whole lot of fun. Retailers, designers and editors joined celebs and the general public in a multitude of events throughout the evening. Think bands, games, one-of-kind products, food trucks and more! There were plenty of people out in LA. Finding parking was the most challenging aspect of party hopping across town, but it was worth the effort. Here are some fashionable pics of the night.

Fashion's Night Out was a fashionable night indeed. Celebs, editors and designers converged for one night in a massive shopping party. Why? To celebrate fashion of course. I was in LA covering the scene (more on that soon), but here is a look at some of the chicest looks as featured in Fashionologie. My favorite look of the night? It's Fashion's Night Out. Where Will You Celebrate?

 

 

 

Vogue's Fashion's Night Out is being celebrated around the world tonight. Where will you be? 

I'll be out and about covering events in LA. Question is, just how much can I possibly fit in? The hot indie band Cults is playing at Philip Lim, a multitude of events are being staged at Fred Segal, "The Salt.Orialist" event is at Gogosha Optique and what about the stores on Melrose with all kinds of chicness?!! It's sure to be a fun night with giveaways, designer meet and greets - and yes, happily the grilled cheese truck!!! My night might go something like this: Collect a key at Alexander McQueen, stop by Arcade to get shoes autographed by Jerome Rousseau and then shop the special Moschino collection at Resurrection. Philip Lim and Fred Segal are a "must" and then after-party at the Mondrian. Yes, it will be chic night out with tons of street fashion to be seen! The challenge will be planning it out. Luckily Racked has mapped out the night from ferris wheel rides at FNO in the 90210 to the Beverly Center down Melrose and to the La Brea Block Party. To plan your night, check the map here.

The September issue of California Apparel News Waterwear published today!! It's exciting to see all of the coverage from Miami Swim Week all in one magazine. As Fashion Editor I was in South Beach covering everything from poolside cocktail soirees and the runway shows at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim to the action on the trade show floors at Salon Allure and the Miami SwimShow & LingerieShow. Love and i-D: September Issue Cover Madness

Why settle for one cover when you can have six or eight? That's exactly what i-D and LOVE magazine have released for their September issues. It's not the first time editor Katie Grand has had multiple covers on the newsstand. For issue three of Love, she released a series of covers featuring naked super models - Amber, Daria, Kristen, Jeneil, Lara,  Natalia - counting down to the release date. Here are the covers for Issue 6 shot by Mert & Marcus featuring Hailee Steinfeld, Elle Fanning and Chloe Moretz as well as special edition covers with Kristen McMenamy, Lara Stone, Mariaclara Boscono, Daphne Groeneveld, Nyasha Matonhodze. 

i-D magazine has released six equally dynamic covers for their pre-Fall issue. It might have something to do with the i-D Now Pop-up which just opened at The Red Gallery in London. The exhibition includes an incredible behind-the-scenes look at i-D magazine and its covers that have been gracing the newsstands for over thirty years. It is being held in conjunction with the Taschen anthology "i-D Covers 1980-2010" which recently published. Fans and fashionistas will have the opportunity to walk down memory lane tracing the magazine's history with over three hundred iconic covers as well as contributions from Nick Knight, Pat McTrath, Simon Foxton and more.
