Bloggers have become the darlings of the fashion scene. Not only are they blogging about fashion, but they are looking chic while they're doing it. 2011 was the break out year for the street scene. And now bloggers are establishing their own fashion identities while capturing some of the chicest looks on the street. While covering runway shows in Paris, I took a moment to capture some of the sharp shooters on the front lines of Paris Fashion Week.
The holidays are all about taking time to spend with family, friends and loved ones. Celebrating Christmas also includes the tradition of sending holiday cards. This season I've received cards, videos and even extra special music - ie Resurrection's Holiday Playlist - to ring in the season. For my 3rd annual "Happy Holidays" post, I picked some of my favorites sent from friends and colleagues in the fashion biz. Hope you enjoy them as much as I have. Wishing you and yours a VeryVeryChic Holiday!!
Ask Florence + The Machine to open it with an exclusive performance - and then livestream it. And you initiate a Twitter campaign so her fans can ask her questions. That's what's happening at Harrods of London on Dec. 27 at 8:45 am. Fashion collabs are becoming the status quo, so it was only a matter of time before a retailer would harness the power of music - in this case - the stylish fashion icon known as Florence Welch. Tune in for the livestream to get your Florence fix, but I also recommend checking the site when the online sale begins at 6 pm on the 24th. There are some some very chic picks in "The Holiday Shop" to take you from the city to the ski slopes and to the beach - just in time for your holiday travels. Also catch "The Best Dressed List" for 2011 and "One's To Watch" for 2012 in the stores' chic online mag, The Review.
On|Off, Rankin and Tuuli have just announced the return of the “Dig the New Breed” competition. An exciting moment for fashion as this year, it will offer up-and-coming film directors the opportunity to submit fashion films. The winning directors will be included in two prestigious outlets. First, they will have the opportunity to be part of the “Dig the New Breed” exhibition at Rankin’s prestigious Annroy Gallery in London and to be featured in On|Off’s Limited Edition printed fanzine. The second issue of the On|Off Fanzine, which is produced and created in collaboration with Tuuli, will feature some of the most talented emerging fashion designers, artists, stylists and film makersof the moment.
There's not much time though. The competition is open for submissions from today up until until 22nd December 2011. All work submitted will be personally selected by Rankin. The Limited Edition Fanzine will be presented on February 16th at the Rook & Raven Gallery in London as well as at the On|Off Paris Fashion Week venue, Espace Commines between February 29th and March 3rd 2012. For all the details on competition, including conditions of entry, go to Rankin.co.uk.
There's no question Lady Gaga has a flair for the dramatic. And her January feature in Vanity Fair is simply exquisite. Shot by Annie Leibowitz, it captures Gaga in her avant garde fashion element. Hats have been all the rage this year - think the Royal wedding - but this beautiful red ensemble by Atelier Versace outdoes them all. The intro to the feature here and don't miss the slideshow of her evolving style. Vanity Fair has compiled 49 of her most memorable looks over the past decade or more.
How do you get dressed up for the Holidays? With the right shoes of course.
Recently, I was asked to style the Michael Antonio Holiday lookbook featuring 'It Girl' Caroline D'Amore. The concept was to shoot Caroline celebrity paparazzi style in Los Angeles. Photographer Mike Rosenthal was brought in to capture the Hollywood glam-meets-lifestyle look. From the chic loft to shopping in downtown and to the club for the party, here are key looks from Michael Antonio's Paparazzi Holiday collection. The collection is available online and if you're in Los Angeles, you're in luck. The Michael Antonio Pop-Up Store is open until Dec. 22 at 517 W. 7th St in downtown LA. Get your shoes and boots for the holidays. And the clothing? It's all available. Click, click the links to get the look. A special thank you to everyone who helped with this shoot.
What do Rodarte and Beck have in common? Autumn De Wilde.
Both are frequent subjects of the talented photographer, and now, De Wilde has published a new book of photographs dedicated to Beck, a longtime friend and muse. It also features a behind-the-scenes Q&A between the pair to boot. I stopped by Bookmarc in Los Angeles to check out the action at the signing and release party. The photos say it best.

A very chic crowd turned out to celebrate G-Star's opening of its first "Raw" denim store on Rodeo Dr. With mega-producer Mark Ronson spinning tunes and French actress and G-Star's new campaign model, Clemence Poesy, on the red carpet, the party made Rodeo Dr. history with its uber-cool factor. We stopped by to check out the action at the filled to capacity store and, yes, what they were wearing. G-Star denim, of course. Anton Corbijn, Joel McHale, Mischa Barton, Zelda Wiliams and True Blood's Ryan Kwanten were just a few of the guests in attendance. For more photos, check SocialiteLife.com
It's no secret, sparkle is 'in" in a big way this holiday season. With cocktail parties and holiday soirees in full swing, a wardrobe update is just a matter of a simple item with a whole lot of glitter. Here are Jimmy Choo's version of the look ala sparkly heels and tres chic clutches that I spotted at the Beverly Center in Los Angeles. You can shop online this season with some help from Jimmy Choo's 'His of Her Gift Guide.' How will get your sparkle on? Remember, it's all in the Choos.
The upcoming exhibition "Cocktail Culture" at the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach is one of the first exhibitions to explore the cocktail hour as an art form - and an American phenomenon. The exhibiton debuts on Dec. 15 - just in time for the holiday party season. I wish I were in West Palm Beach to see this exhibition which features more than 150 objets d' art. But I will just have to visualize (and hope that others capture and blog) all of the chic fashion and art on display. "Cocktail Culture" will feature everything from clothing and accessories to decorative arts, illustrations and photography from the 1920s to the present. And it relates it to modern culture by highlighting iconic moments on the big screen such as the Audrey Hepburn's party du jour on 'Breakfast at Tiffanys,' and the cocktail hour as popularized by 'Sex and the City' and most recently 'Mad Men.' Recall my Chic Style Tips Q&A with Janie Bryant? With clothing by legendary designers such as Cristobal Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, Jeanne Lanvin, Yves Saint Laurent, Tiffany & Co. Norman Norell, Valentino, Elsa Schiaparelli, Christian Dior and Van Cleef & Arpel it will most certainly be a fashionable affair. Think Tiffany’s sterling silver cocktail sets and cigarette cases. And cocktail hour fashion that ranges from 1920's sequin flapper dresses to ethnic chic caftans and hostess pajamas of the '70s, Christian Lacroix’s '80s pouf skirts and minimalist looks of the early '90s. For more info, SunSentinel.com has a great indepth article or check the museum's site Norton.org
When it comes to purchasing a memorable item on my travels, I generally find myself hunting housewares. Crystal in Prague, blankets in Cozumel, art in Fiji and now, pottery in Tel Aviv. Here are my chic finds at the Nachlat Benyamin Market. I fell in love with this teapot and matching mugs by artist Ramon Mendesono. Now, when I drink a cup of tea in the morning, I will think of Tel Aviv.....
