From Rihanna in Jean Paul Gaultier to Katy Perry in full-on geisha girl regalia and Miley in her uber cute '80s inspired athletic bikini - and ummm Fashion Flash: How about those stacks of Lucite bangles? This year I live tweeted the event and discovered there was much more fashion on the stage than on the red carpet. Most celebs seemed to play it clean and safe. There were some notable moments though - Lady Gaga's grand entrance on a puppeteered horse in all her Donatella-esque glory and how about a leather clad Joan Jett and her red carpet interview? Note: She listens to Bowie and The Ramones. Staying true to her rock n' roll roots, she is the original! Taylor Swift shimmered in a gold cocktail length dress with a daring center front cut-out and Ciara rocked an intricately pieced sheer gown by J Mendel - edgy and ultra chic!! A truly well-deserving Rihanna took center stage for the most notable fashion moment of the night. She received the AMA's first-ever Icon Award and I can't think of anyone better to receive it. Always chic and always pushing the edge, Rihanna at just 25 years old is indeed an icon. Scroll down for a look at some of my favorite fashion moments of the night, for more from the red carpet go to NY Daily News.
