Over the past few days I've had a paradigm shift with my work/travel wardrobe. My luggage was stolen at my hotel when I arrived in Vegas to cover the trade shows. And I discovered just how little clothing I can truly get by with. Since I literally had only the clothes on my back on Sunday when this happened, I had to replace my wardrobe for the next four days. My solution? A quick stop at CVS for a toothbrush, shampoo and a few essentials. Then on to Nordstrom for great basics including t-shirts, tanks and the perfect Sam Edelman booties. And of course an American Apparel stop for leggings. Keeping my signature palette all black made it easy to mix and match pieces during the day and into the night. Now that I've had these limitations in my travel wardrobe, I think it's actually been a liberating experience. In the future, I'll pack a much lighter suitcase and will be happy to get by with less. I also plan to clear out excess clothes from my closet at home. Since I just lost all my favorite clothing including one-of-a-kind vintage pieces, it will be much easier to let go of the rest. Here is my trade show look in Vegas. All black everything is VeryVeryChic.
Haute Couture, the Eiffel Tower, macaroons and the chicest street style in the world...I'm always dreaming of Paris! Here's a pic I took on my last visit to the City of Lights. Fashion Week just kicked off in New York which means Paris Fashion Week is just around the corner. Ooh la la - I can't wait!!
I attended the Costume Council at LACMA's special event celebrating the "Diane von Furstenberg: Journey of a Dress" exhibition which just opened at the museum. Of course the artsy event, which included a conversation with the legendary designer and W Magazine's Editor Stefano Tonchi, required a VeryVeryChic look. I wore a vintage kimono paired with a simple black sheath dress, Glynneth B necklace and my favorite Coach heels. DVF's colorful prints were the perfect backdrop for my all black palette!! More on the event and exhbition soon....Until then, here are some of my favorite pics from the night.

Styling on set requires a chic wardrobe. So, I was excited receive this fabulous cape from my friends at G-Star RAW for Christmas! The Fall collection's military-inspired look is so my style. I rocked this outfit while shooting at Milk Studios in LA just before the holiday. Thank you G-Star for helping me to capture the season's trending military chic look!! Scroll down for a few more pics.

Getting dressed for holiday events in LA calls for a bit of Old Hollywood glamour. Here is a look I wore to the recent Decades X Bea Szenfeld event. When I spotted (pun intended) the leopard stairway at the Decades boutique, I couldn't resist a photo opp! I'm wearing a vintage leopard coat, Leith black dress and Report Signature crystal covered booties. C'est chic!
The British Fashion Council returned to Los Angeles this week with Britain's top designers - and a chic cocktail party fete'd the occasion. I was excited to attend the opening night party which kicked off the LONDONshowROOMS - a bi-annual event held in various cities around the world to showcase Britain's top established and upcoming designers. Guests including Olga Kurylenko, Lydia Hearst and Christa B. Allen as well as the 'Who's Who" of L.A. fashion and art communities turned out to celebrate at the Ace Gallery in Beverly Hills. This season designers and brands included David Koma, Todd Lynn, J.W. Anderson, Sister by Sibling, Marques' Almeida, Shaun Sampson, Lee Roach, Nazir Mazhar and Astrid Andersen. Here are a few pics from the event including my chic party look. I'll be posting more designer coverage from the LONDONshowROOMS in the next post! Enjoy!!

Here's my ode to pattern with this fun Instashoot. I pulled a Juliana Jabour Miro-inspired print dress and Trina Turk necklace from my closet especially for a trip to San Francisco. Since I nearly always wear black, I thought I should record the occasion! I was inspired to break out this print number to cover events at the Academy of Art University for Apparel News. It was the perfect daytime city chic look for a morning panel discussion and for lunching at Neiman Marcus. How will you wear will prints this Spring?
My answer to an ugly sweater party? A Christmas ornament necklace.
At least that was my solution when I received a last minute holiday party invitation. Luckily I had a cute gold angel and some Christmas ribbon to quickly create a necklace. A chic black sweater, leggings and heels completed my party-worthy look. After all, why not be a little creative and who reallllly wants to wear an ugly sweater?!!
How do you translate Fall's dark glamour into your own personalized look? Take tips from this season's muses. Think dark and mysterious ala the heroines of the big screen such as Rooney Mara in the "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo." Designers including Versace, Gucci and Givenchy took cues for their Fall runway shows. You can channel the vibe with a biker edge, goth glam or chic vintage sophistication. OR any combination of the above to suit your personal style. Here is my dark glam look worn at the recent City of Hope X Halston gala, which I covered for Apparel News. Vintage velvet cape (my Grandmas!), Kors by Michael Kors dress, Kenneth Cole black patent clutch and Prada shoes (not pictured). Black palette required.
