I'm not really a "girly girl," but like most girls growing up, Barbies were my thing. Maybe it had something to do with all of her fabulous clothes. So, of course, I was beyond ecstatic when I received the invitation to attend the Herve Leger X Barbie launch event. Rest assured if the Herve Leger by Max Azria Barbie existed back then, I would have been first in line to buy one - clearly, my style!! Barbie's new look is very, very chic in a Herve Leger red bandage dress cinched in by the world's tiniest corset. According to Chief Creative Officer, Lubov Azria, the collaboration was a no brainer. "We thought Barbie is so iconic and so is Herve Leger, so it just seemed
like a wonderful idea," she told me at the event. While Barbie has been dressed by over 70 designers, this collaboration is unique in that Barbie is dressed in authentic Herve Leger, which were actually made in the Herve Leger factory. And she comes with a change of clothes, high heeled boots and accessories. Good luck trying to find one of these highly collectible Barbies. Mattel made approximately 9000 dolls, which retail for $150, and they are nearly sold out online and in stores. I'm glad I got to see the iconic doll up close and snap a few pics! Scroll down for images from the launch event which included plenty of bubbly, a Barbie photo booth AND collectible life size versions of the clothes and accessories which can actually be purchased. Now anyone can be a real life Barbie - c'est chic!
