Fall '14 TREND: REBEL YELL

 

 

Los Angeles is known for its rebellious nature and this season is no different. Punk inspiration has infiltrated denim brands for Fall including Hudson and THVM while plaid fabrications and edgy details were big trends on the runway. Karl Lagerfeld added a punk edge to Fendi this season while Alexander Wang added zippers at Balenciaga and Sarah Burton took a darkly romantic turn at Alexander McQueen. While the variations in themes are not necessarily "punk" they definitely say "rebellion." Here are some classic yet punked out rock n' roll looks I spotted at the Vegas trade shows. Rock On.

Fall '14 TREND: STREET CHIC

When Tom Ford sent his sequin'd jersey dresses down the runway in a cheeky nod to Jay-Z's Tom Ford concert jersey, it was a picture Instagram'd around the world. Streetwear has been trending for the past year - and the trend is showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, streetwear and activewear has trickled up to runways around the world. From Marni's fur clad active-inspired looks to Neil Barrett's quilted bombers and Fendi's sportif themes, there was plenty of activewear on the runways. The trend is so big, in fact, Giuseppi Zanotti's launched its first-ever capsule collection which includes activewear. And Karl Lagerfeld sent models down the runway at the Palais Royale wearing sweatsuits in his genius supermarket-themed Fall runway show. Street is definitely chic - and it's everywhere this season. Look for quilted bombers, beanies, athletic shoes, track suits, snap backs, vegan leather fabrics - and yes, sequin'd jerseys. Fall '14 TREND: SOUTH X SOUTHWEST

 

 

Get your hats on and your boots ready, Western style is trending for Fall. From Marni's Native American chic to Philip Plein's rock n' roll cowgirls and Versace's red boots pictured above, there was plenty of Western style on the runways this season. Perhaps Chanel's recent show in Dallas kicked off the trend, but whatever the case may be there is plenty of Southwestern prints, Old West motifs and Native Americana inspiration emerging for Fall. Here are some looks I spotted at the trade shows in Las Vegas. Yeehaw!
